The Marine Park of Wakatobi in Indonesia | A coral paradise
Although the beach recovery in this photographs deserves and could easily be called as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Wakatobi has captured our attention for what it can offer below the water surface.
Colorful fauna, as you would always have the opportunity to be able to see when you dive, but especially corals, a lot of corals! Throughout the archipelago there have been identified 25 groups of coral reefs. The main three types are namely coral reefs, atolls and coral to fringe, for a total of 396 different species of coral. For many this is enough to make Wakatobi the best place in the world for diving.
In short, a real treasure trove of biodiversity protected by a natural marine park which is trying to bring it into the world heritage site. The park is named after the four main islands (Wangi Wangi, Kaledupa, Anatomy and Binongko) and is located southeast of Sulawesi, better known as Celebes (it’s that island that looks like a Japanese ideogram). If you have Surabaya hotel reservations, you can find island hopping tours and visit the Marine Park of Wakatobi in Sulawesi, which is only a ferry ride away.
