Museums in Stockholm Vasa, Modern and National Museum
Stockholm is definitely famous for its museums, but there are many museums, galleries and permanent exhibitions where you can discover the history or simply admire simply admire their works of art. To discover the city’s history and culture just visit the Swedish Historiska museet, the Nordiska museet, dedicated to the history and traditions or the Vasa Museum, which contains a galleon of the era of 1600.
The latter was built and dedicated to a galleon that sank a few miles from the port of Stockholm on the day of its launch, being stranded at the bottom for centuries before being almost entirely recovered and transported to the museum in the 60s. In Vasamuseet you can watch it in a way that it illustrates the history and characteristics. There is a projection in different languages, in a few hours in English it will tell you the unlikely story. The museum is open from January the 2nd till the 31st of May and from September the 1st till the 30th of December from 10:00 to 17:00 (Wednesday from 10:00 to 20:00), from the 1st of June to the 31st of August from 08:30 to 18:00, tickets costs 12 euros.
