Czech Republic: A Journey through Bohemia

There are a lot of things to see in Czech Republic aside from the capital which is Prague. Did you know that there are lots of places that you can explore? Found in the center of Europe that occupies two thirds of the traditional Czech land is the Bohemia region. It is the home of 6 million Czech residents. Geographically it is bordered by Germany, Poland, Moravia and Austria. The borders are marked by great mountain ranges like the Bohemian Forest, Ore Mountains, Krkonoše and the Sudeten mountain range. The constitution of Czech refers to the citizens of the Czech from Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. They are all under the state of the Bohemian Crown. Currently the whole republic is divided into Prague, Central Bohemian, Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem, Liberec, and Hradec Králové Regions, Pardubice, Vysočina, South Bohemian and South Moravian Regions.

The central Bohemia is about 70 km away from Prague. The region is very pretty with quite a number of attractions like the Karlštejn Castle , Konopiště Chateau, Kutná Hora and Sedlec. You can have lunch at a restaurant where you can see the merging of the rivers. The west Bohemia is known to be the spa region. There are famous people who have stayed here for spa treatment. There are also beautiful towns that are surrounded by hills and forests. The place is said to be quiet despite the fact that there are a lot of tourists that frequent the place. This is also the spot where you can have a great nightlife.

Another interesting part is found in the Northern area. The biggest attraction in the area is the Czech Switzerland National Park that goes all the way to Germany. The area that surrounds the town owes its beauty to the dramatic rock formation, caves and canyons that have resulted from various geological processes. The park is also boasting a sandstone bridge which is called the Pravčická brána. There are other attractions in the area like the Jizerské hory Mountains, Krušné hory Mountains, and Terezín Memorial.

The east of Bohemia is a region that offers various sceneries from valleys to high mountains. The charming Bohemia paradise is a place where you can hike and enjoy beautiful sandstone. Another famous attraction is the zoo called Dvůr Králové nad Labem which is very famous in the whole Czech Republic. The southern Bohemia is a beautiful area with a laid back town that seems like it was taken from a fairy tale. One shouldn’t miss the Český Krumlov which is considered to be protected by UNESCO. The area is very picturesque and you can spend the whole afternoon looking at Trebon and its natural surroundings. There are manmade lakes that are being utilized for breeding fishes too.
